Summer Time and the Reading is Easy

Yesterday, our four and five-year olds from New Beginnings Childcare took a mini field trip. They visited the Mason Square Branch of the Springfield (MA) Public Library. Summer Storytime is every Wednesday morning for 3 - 6 year olds.

I followed the kids as they walked to the library. They were happy; singing, laughing, and enjoying the pleasant temps after a heat wave that made outside play much too uncomfortable.

As we walked along, the teachers asked, "Where are we going?" The children shouted out, "The Library." I don't know if the wonderful people at the Springfield Public Library know that they have a cheerleading squad.

Today's topic was trains, although I did not stay for the whole hour so there may very well have been additional topics. The reader was wonderful with the kids and started interacting with them immediately. They all eagerly raised their hands to answer his questions.

I know that the kids will be going back and enjoying Summer Storytime on Wednesdays.
